TORONTO — If you’re looking for a job in trucking, could use some valuable business tips from industry experts or just want to check out some chromed up iron, Truck World’s the place to be.

If you’re in Toronto or plan on passing through April 10 to 12, stop by the Industry Seminar Program, held at the International Centre in Aviation Ballroom B, Hall 5. There you will find educational seminars on changes to the Canadian Periodic Motor Vehicle Inspections (PMVI), the effects of driverless trucks on the industry and more.

Here’s what’s going on:

On Thursday April 10, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm, the Transportation Maintenance and Technology Association will host a seminar on the new PMVI structure, how the rules are changing and what you can do to adapt the changes into a working shop.

Jim Pinder, the fleet director of Erb Group of Companies will moderate the panel presentation and the question and answer period.

Available on panel will be Eddy Tschirhart, a consultant with the Canadian Transportation Equipment Association, Jake Francis, the health and safety and customer service manager for Carrier Centres and Robert Monster, the senior vehicle standards engineer with the Ministry of Transport Ontario.

Then on Sunday, April 12, Shell is sponsoring an owner-operator forum from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm to discuss what happens when CPUs and ECMs Collide. Jim Park will lead the discussion on driverless trucks, platooning, GPS-controlled engines and transmissions and how all these technologies will affect drivers.
