TORONTO — A little more than a year after its inception, the nonprofit association of highway carriers dedicated to moving charity freight throughout Canada named a slate of directors and held its first annual general meeting in Mississauga.

The leaders are a who’s-who of the province’s trucking industry: Scott Smith of JD Smith and Sons, Mark Seymour of Kriska Holdings and Norm Sneyd, VP of Bison Transport.

All three men are active Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) members, and, as Pete Dalmazzi, president and founder of the Trucks For Change Network put it, “OTA helped us to get started, and we’re thrilled to have a strong OTA presence on our Board.”

The inaugural meeting drew attendance from a strong contingent of member carriers, and included recognition of corporate partners Kal Tire, Transcore Link Logistics, Newcom Business Media (which produces todaystrucking.com) and Ryder Canada.

Members also heard from Rob Voisin, National Director of Habitat For Humanity Canada’s ReStore division, who thanked members for regularly helping Habitat to collect and resell tons of donated materials nationwide.
