Trucks reporting to Windsor secondary must get tagged: CBP

WINDSOR, Ont. — Effective immediately, all truck drivers who are referred to secondary inspection at the Port of Windsor will be required to attach a truck tag (provided by the officer) to the back of their vehicle prior to leaving the primary booth.

The driver will remove the tag when arriving at the respective offsite warehouse, where it must be presented immediately at the arrivals counter.

According to U.S. Customs, the driver will retain the tag until he’s cleared for export.

So far this is a Windsor port rule, and the same initiative is not in effect at other border points in Canada.

Meanwhile, CBP has also ruled that when an exit code is issued to a driver, he has a maximum of two hours to leave the yard.
