Volvo gets back into autohauler market

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Volvo has taken another plunge into the autohauler market through a partnership with Fontaine Modification.

The company is basing the new model on its VN420 unit, which will be transformed by Fontaine for autohauler use. Autohaulers require the shortest distance between the road surface and the roof of the cab, and the new models will be available in either a low roof or low cab option.

The new units will be a full two inches lower than comparable trucks in its class, making it ideal for the niche autohauler market.

The partnership with Fontaine was announced yesterday at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
