Volvo revives cross-continent VN test-drive tour

GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 10, 2003) — Volvo Trucks North America said it will bring back its cross-continent, test-drive tour starting this spring.

The company’s Drive the Future program will stop at nearly two dozen Petro Stopping Centers and other truckstops in the United States and Canada. Four new Volvo VNs will be part of the tour: two VN780s (with 500-hp Cummins ISX engines), and a VN670 and VN630 (both with the newly released 465-hp Volvo VE 465 engine). All the trucks will be hitched to loaded trailers.

Volvo Trucks and Volvo Commercial Finance representatives will be on hand to answer questions.

“Last fall’s Drive the Future tour was so successful that we knew we had to do it again in 2003,” said Susan Alt, Volvo Trucks vice president of marketing. “More than 600 drivers took part in the first tour. This time, we want to give at least 1,000 drivers the chance to spread the word.”

Equipment from these 2003 Drive the Future co-sponsors will be featured on the tour’s trucks and trailers, including Michelin, Cummins, Eaton, ArvinMeritor, Jost, ConMet and Great Dane.
