“Thanks to the commitment and generous support from our suppliers, this year’s charity golf outing was the most successful event in its history,” said Dick Giromini, president and chief executive officer. “As one of the largest employers in the Lafayette area, Wabash National is proud to support and work with local agencies to sustain and promote a promising future for our communities. Every year our suppliers prove they believe in our mission and values when they join us in our commitment to the community by making their own charitable contributions during this event.”

Laura Carson, interim CEO of the United Way of Greater Lafayette, received a cheque for $150,000 at a special presentation during the conference.

“Wabash National Corporation’s support of the United Way of Greater Lafayette, our community initiatives and our affiliated agencies is incredible,” said Carson. “I thank everyone at Wabash National and their suppliers for the generous support of people in our community and applaud them for their collaborative success. Wabash National is a recognized leader in the transportation industry. With their growth and success they continue to increase their investment in the communities where they live and do business.”

The rest of the donations are being distributed among various nonprofit organizations, including other United Way locations where Wabash National operates: Fond du Lac Area United Way in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; United Way of the Columbia-Willamette in Portland, Oregon; United Way for Clinton County in Frankfort, Indiana; and United Way of Wyandotte County in Kansas City, Kansas.

“We want to work with suppliers who provide superior value in quality products and services that provide the best value to Wabash National and, in turn, the best value to our customers,” said Steve Miller, Wabash National vice-president of global strategic sourcing. “But it’s just as important to us to work with business leaders who also support our communities.”

Wabash National donated an additional corporate gift of $33,094 at the close of the charity golf outing, bringing the total monies raised to $360,000.
