WESTAC plans second skills shortage conference
WINNIPEG, Man. — The Western Transportation Advisory Council (WESTAC) is following up its Skills for Transportation conference with a second conference aimed at developing solutions.
The second conference will be held at the Fairmont Hotel in Winnipeg on Mar. 12 and 13. The three themes the conference will focus on will be attracting, training and retaining skilled workers in the transportation industry.
WESTAC’s first Skills for Transportation conference, held in Vancouver in early December, identified there will be a large skills shortage in transportation in five to 10 years, and there must be more discussion and coordination in order to address the issue.
Organizers of the upcoming event say that groups of up to 15 people will work with neutral facilitator to develop solutions and brainstorm ideas.
For more information about the conference, call WESTAC at 604-687-8691 or visit www.westac.com.
