Winter weather hits Hog town

TORONTO, Ont. — After months of spring-like weather, Southwestern Ontario and the Greater Toronto area are getting their first real taste of winter.

A weather warning is in effect today for the Great Lakes region, although cottage country is expected to bear the brunt of the storm.

Ten to 15 centimetres of snow is expected in the Barrie area, while Toronto and Southwestern Ontario can expect five to 10 cm, according to the Toronto regional weather centre.

It gets bleaker, too. The snow is expected to give way to freezing rain later in the day.
