XVision wins technical achievement award from industry journalists
TORONTO (March 31, 2003) — XVision, a night vision system developed for trucks by Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, has won the 2002 Technical Achievement Award from the Truck Writers of North America, an organization of industry journalists.
XVision, which started shipping last year, uses an infrared camera to detect heat and reveal the white images on an in-cab display. It picks up pedestrians, parked cars, wildlife, and objects in front of the vehicle up to 1,500 feet away — three to five times farther than a driver can ordinarily see at night with his high-beams on.
Bendix is an operating unit of military contractor Honeywell International.
