Well, it’s that time of year again, the most joyous time of year – it’s list season! And with it comes the list edition of Hooked Up. This is when I dig into the analytics reports generated by Trucknews.com to determine which were the hottest topics and best-read stories of 2015.

This is always a fun look back at the year that was and the process always uncovers a few surprises. So let’s get started with the 10 most well-read news stories from Trucknews.com in 2015:

#8: Maritime-Ontario opens new $20-million Moncton hub

I just happened to be in Moncton the day M-O opened its new state-of-the-art Moncton hub and was able to take in the swanky grand opening. It’s a nice place and hard to miss when you’re driving by on the highway at two in the morning.

#7: Caterpillar ends truck deal with Navistar

Two companies that garner a lot of attention when they make news – Caterpillar and Navistar – ended a truck-building relationship. This story will continue this year when Navistar unveils a new vocational truck in February and Cat comes out with a 15L engine (but whose?) for its own truck.

#6: Edmonton trucking company earns heavy fine for overweight loads

A multi-million-dollar fine for running overweight is sure to get lots of attention, but the allegations against this dump truck company were far more egregious than hauling a single load a few pounds over.

#4: GTA container truckers on strike

A short-lived but fiery container hauler strike slowed the movement of containers through Greater Toronto Area intermodal yards this summer. Fortunately it was resolved in a somewhat timely manner but not before it disrupted freight.

A story on how Navistar fixed its EGR-related problems, and no, not just by switching to SCR. The company also took steps to resolve the issues it had in legacy equipment and this was clearly an item of much interest to fleets and O/Os who owned those trucks

#2: Driving a Scania is ‘better than sex,’ truck enthusiast claims

Including ‘sex’ in a headline is sure to get your click-rate up, but it’s not often we have the opportunity to do so when covering the trucking industry. But hey, thanks to Scania enthusiast Juliaan Wellens for the great quote and for introducing us to an even greater truck.

#1: B.C. approves the use of ‘snow socks’ for truckers

A new alternative to tire chains has been approved for use in B.C., but while interest in the product is undoubtedly high, I’m sure the extraordinary number of views logged has something to do with the ensuing debate in the comments section as to how long it should take to attach a set of chains.
