SUNNYVALE, Calif. – David Yin, Peterbilt’s technical publications manager, knows there is plenty of repair information available to technicians. Peterbilt has 20 million records pertaining to all vehicles and their electrical connections alone. But, to be honest, he knows it isn’t necessarily being consumed. A new augmented reality tool, scheduled to be rolled out in late 2019, could help to change that by transforming CAD computing models into 3D images.

Calgary driver faces 29 charges in Humboldt crash

REGINA, Sask. – Jaskirat Sidhu, the truck driver who collided with the Humboldt Broncos bus on April 6, was arrested this morning and faces 29 charges. The 29-year-old male from Calgary who worked for Adesh Deol Trucking was charged with 16 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and 13 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily injury. Sidhu was arrested at his Calgary residence without incident and will make his first appearance in Saskatchewan court next week. The investigation took approximately three months and included a reenactment of the collision, over 60 interviews, more than 6,000 photos of the crash scene, and an analysis the driver’s log book.

Pink truck celebrates fifth Express Mondor golf tournament for breast cancer

LANORAIE, Que. – Whether they were on they dance floor or the 19th hole, for 160 participants in this year’s Express Mondor golf tournament and fundraising dinner the day was a hole in one. This year marked the fifth for the yearly day on the links raising funds for the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation at Club de golf Berthier. The foursomes on the course followed the event up with a dinner attended by 200 where a cheque for $25,000 was presented to the foundation. That amount brings the five-year total the company has raised to more than $130,000.

Michelin applauds B.C. for increasing weight limits on super singles

VICTORIA, B.C. –Michelin North America is lauding the B.C. government for increasing the load limits on “super singles.” The B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure increased the load limits for new-generation wide-base single tires (also known as super singles) that are size 455/55R22.5 from 7,700 kilograms to 8,500 kilograms last month – making them equivalent to those trucks using dual tires.
