Joint venture releases automated transmission

ATLANTA, GA - The first product unveiled through a joint venture between Eaton and Cummins has officialy emerged in the form of a 12-speed automated transmission.

ATLANTA, GA- Allison Transmission plans to release the first nine-speed fully automatic transmission in 2020, replacing its existing six-speed transmission.

Test Driving Paccar’s New Automated Transmission

Paccar is the latest OEM to claim its own proprietary integrated powertrain. For Paccar, it began with the MX-11 and MX-13 engines in 2010. Last October, the company announced a proprietary drive axle, the 40,000-lb Paccar Tandem Drive Axle.

Paccar’s proprietary 12-speed transmission

MT VERNON, WA - Paccar has unveiled a 12-speed automated transmission, rounding out a proprietary powertrain with the promise of better fuel economy and smoother shifts along the way. Developed over three years in a partnership with Eaton, the transmission will be released into the market this October. "The Paccar automated transmission is engineered to work seamlessly with Paccar MX engines and Paccar axles," says Landon Sproull, Paccar vice president. It will support linehaul applications with Gross Vehicle Weights up to 110,000 pounds, and engines delivering up to 510 horsepower and 1,850 lb-ft of torque. The first units will be an option with MX-13 engines.

Eaton has now begun shipping its upgraded line of aftermarket Advantage Self-Adjust and Easy Pedal Advantage heavy-duty clutches.

Cummins-approved additives

Cummins has for the first time endorsed two additives for diesel engines - Power Service's Diesel Kleen +Cetane Boost and Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost.
