MTA Fall Gala full of memories
WINNIPEG, MB - The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) honored its best and brightest this weekend with its Fall Gala Awards Dinner. Surrounded by food, fun, and good company, the MTA recognized not one, but two members who have spent their lives in service to the trucking industry by changing the name of the Service to Industry award to the Red Coleman Service to Industry Award. Going forward the award will be sponsored by the Coleman family and bare the name of the senior Coleman who has been in trucking nearly 70 years.
Young Leaders formalizing board Dec. 14
MILTON, ON - The Young Leaders Group (YLG) of the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC) is taking a big step toward making a big impact on the industry Dec. 14. The group will host a breakfast meeting in Guelph where they will formalize their board and appoint new directors and voting candidates.
Recruitment the focus of Women with Drive summit
TORONTO, ON - Recruitment and retention will be the topic of discussion at Trucking HR Canada's fourth annual Women with Drive summit being held March 1, 2018 in Toronto. The panel discussion will focus on company branding on multiple platforms and how that can influence or help companies attract employees. Called "Outside in" the panel will feature experts from the social media platform Linkedin, and the employment website Workopolis. The panel will talk about attracting women and other under-represented groups to the trucking industry.
FortisBC unveils new CNG station
KAMLOOPS, BC - Fleets using compressed natural gas (CNG) in British Columbia now have one more place to refuel. FortisBC held the grand opening of its newest CNG filling station in Kamloops, today. The utility offered a behind-the-scenes look at its operations to those on-hand for the big unveiling.
CTEA conference looks to the future
WINDOSR, ON - From the future of carbon pricing to the latest in trailer manufacturing, the 2017 Canadian Transportation Equipment Association's (CTEA) annual conference and trade fair is looking forward with optimism. Called "Up the Ante: Innovate!," the 54th annual manufacturers conference is being held at Caesar's Windsor Oct. 23-25, and is being billed as a place for members, vocational truck manufacturers, their dealers, suppliers, and service providers to network.
