EconicSD comes to North Am waste market
Freightliner has unveiled the EconicSD waste collection truck to North America in a bid to secure a share of the 2,400 to 2,600 trucks sold in its category per year. Available in 6x4, high-cab and low-cab, and rear- and side-loader configurations, the low-entry COE features panoramic windows and an optional pneumatic bi-fold door on the passenger’s side.
Adesh Deol Trucking remains grounded
EDMONTON, Alta. – The company that owns the truck involved in a fatal truck-bus crash in Humboldt, Sask., remains grounded by Alberta Transportation as a police investigation continues. Calgary-based Adesh Deol Trucking has just one other truck, but its safety fitness certificate was suspended following the April 6 collision that killed 16. “Alberta Transportation’s investigation of the commercial carrier involved in the Humboldt incident is ongoing,” said a ministry spokesman, although an assessment of National Safety Code (NSC) compliance has concluded.
Updated: Saskatchewan backtracks on training stance
REGINA, Sask. – Days after announcing plans for mandatory entry-level driver training, SGI’s auto fund division has issued a second memo that backtracks from the stance. “We would like to clarify that no decision has been made regarding Class 1 training,” writes Kwei Quaye, vice-president, traffic safety, driver and support services.
